André Clouet is truly an iconic Champagne house, with a wide range of champagnes in its portfolio. Now Chalky joins that lineup too.
Chalky is a dry Champagne with a nuanced, very fresh palate, showing notes of red apples, French nougat, yellow plums and chocolate.
The name “Chalky” nods to the unique soils found in Champagne.
200 million years ago, the entire region was covered by sea. As it dried out, it created a soil that is exceptionally rich in chalk and limestone.
As well as contributing mineral notes, chalk has the ability to store both heat and water, creating perfect conditions in an otherwise very challenging area to cultivate.
